Jesse, do you like being told what you do? Nope.
Have you ever had someone tell you what you need before finding out what it is that you actually want? Yep.
How did that feel? Not great.
At Smile Solutions of Baltimore, we like to start with a question: What level of care do you desire?
For those of you who have been patients of mine for years, you most likely have had a conversation with either myself or one of our hygienists regarding what level of care you desire. For those of you who are relatively new to the practice, possibly not.
I believe the best way to serve you is to first find out what it is you want. Without knowing what you want how can we best help you? We'd be taking a guess. Dictating to you. Our treatment recommendations may be moving you towards your goals and desires or further away from them.
We like to give you 5 "Options" to choose from:
Level 1) Urgent Care - Focused on pain, swelling, infection only.
Level 2) Remedial Care - Level 1 + treat cavities and broken teeth.
Level 3) Proactive Care - Level 2 + plan and treat single tooth things that could develop into remedial or urgent care problems.
Level 4) Complete Care - Level 3 + plan and treat to maximize long term dental health.
Level 5) Optimal Care - Level 4 + plan and treat to maintain or improve their smile long term.
These "Levels of Care" are meant to help guide us to a place where we are making recommendations that make sense for you and your goals. You can move up and down the desired care levels due to changes in mindset, financial situations or life circumstances.
Also keep it mind it is 100% OK for you to have a desired care level and not be able to pursue treatment recommendations because of financial constraints. The beauty of knowing what a potential plan looks like to achieve your goals and meet your desired care level is that you can begin to plan financially for what you want.
Without ever receiving that plan you're left in the dark. You may feel powerless to fix your dental issues. You may also feel out of control.
Receiving that COMPREHENSIVE plan will allow you to gain fully-informed control of your current and future dental health knowing that you made a conscious choice and weren't just told what to do.
Our team is always happy to discuss your desired care level with you. If you ever desire to enter Level 4 or Level 5 that will most likely trigger the need for a Comprehensive Exam with Dr. Ritter. That exam would involve sitting down with Dr. Ritter for 20-30 mins to discuss your goals followed by a thorough Comprehensive exam, 3D surface scans of your teeth, updating of any necessary x-rays, photos and then potentially a consultation to review results and discuss your plan with you.
This option is always available to you if you wish!
Also, a quick reminder that WE ARE ALWAYS ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS. If you know anyone who you think would like how we do things the please send them our way! :)

Holiday Party
I know it's old news at this point but we had a wonderful Holiday party back in December. We celebrated at BlueStone Restaurant in Timonium and had a fabulous time! What a wonderful way to wrap up 2024 and kick off 2025. :)
