Create Your Own Blue Zone

Create Your Own Blue Zone

Recently, Saleha and I finished watching the Netflix series called "Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones".

In it, author and health guru Dan Buettner travels around the World to study what he refers to as Blue Zones: regions that produce a drastically higher rate of people who live to 100 years old.

He discovers there are certain common habits and traits of these regions. While they are in completely different corners of the world, he discovered that certain core guidelines were common to how the residents live.

While I'm not going to break it all down in detail here, it was inspiring to see that people can be completely able-bodied at 100+ years old! It was incredible! There were 100+ year olds riding horses and cutting their grass with a machete at age 100!

To many of us Americans, this seems impossible.

The primary lesson I learned from watching this series was:

If you control your environment you can drastically improve your life, health and happiness.

While this fact may seem obvious to you, very few of us live in an environment that promotes high quality of life, ideal health and happiness.

Take inventory of the foods you bring home (or get delivered) from the grocery store. If you surround yourself with unhealthy food choices, you are very likely to eat unhealthy. If, however, you surround yourself with as many fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, healthy grains and protein, you are much more likely to eat healthy.

Reflect on all aspects of your environment and you may just find you could begin to make some small, or large, changes in it that could transform your life experience for the better.

You can create your own Blue Zone! :)

New CEREC Primemill Milling Machine & InLab Design Station

In the past few weeks we added a 3rd milling machine to our in-house laboratory. The CEREC Primemill allows us to mill a new material, Zirconia, in house. This ceramic (technically a metal) is particularly useful for dental bridges. The Primemill mills restorations 30-40% faster and gives us the ability to mill things more precisely and cleanly. Having 3 milling machines also speeds up our same day smile transformation appointments and multi-crown appointments. Ask to see it at your next visit! :)

Our Inlab Design Station is fully equipped with dental lab level software which increases our capacity to design and fabricate all dental restorations in house...no matter how complex.
